Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky is hosting our 19th Annual Buddy Walk on October 14th. This event will be held at the Bowling Green Ballpark. Gates will open at 8:45 AM and the opening ceremony will be held at 10:45 AM. We will be raising awareness and funds to benefit the lives of individuals with Down syndrome. Family Aviation Day @ Bowling Green - Warren County Regional Airport

CFR is bringing a first-ever event to the Bowling Green Warren County Regional Airport on Saturday, October 14, 2017—Family Aviation Day. Gates will open at 9:00 a.m. at the airport and admission is free for the duration of the event which ends at 4:00 p.m.

“CFR’s Family Aviation Day is an opportunity for families to enjoy airplane rides around town, eat local food, enjoy kid’s activities, and shop with local vendors,” explains Stephanie Matthews, Community Partnership Coordinator for the non-profit radio ministry and the event. 

In plans for the event are rare and novel airplanes for viewing and numerous personal aircraft and pilots providing 15-minute flights around the area for a requested donation of $40 for adults and $25 for children up to 12. Families of 4 or more can fly for less.

The station is collaborating with Turning Point at Sonrise ministry and the Bowling Green Warren County Regional Airport to host the event. Turning Point at Sonrise is an aviation ministry in Westmoreland, TN, that provides flight lessons and other activities for at-risk youth. They are also a Non-Profit Mission Partner with CFR. Of the collaboration with the airport, Dr. Warren Rose, Executive Director of Turning Point at Sonrise said, “We have received wonderful support and guidance from the Board and staff of the [Bowling Green Warren County] airport—it is a phenomenal facility.”

A ll proceeds will go to benefit Anthony Gish who was seriously injured in a mining accident back in December and is undergoing rehab at the Spine Center in Louisville.

Furthermore, we want to spread a message of inclusion for people with disabilities in the Bowling Green community.

For our annual benefit concert, Jordan Allen and the Bellwethers will return to headline the night, alongside Ashley Renae and a special performance from the Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky Rockerz Dance Team! Admission is only $3, and all proceeds go towards furthering the mission of our ministry to such an under served population.

The whole community is encouraged to come out and hear of all the wonderful work God is doing through Inclusive Ministries!

Throughout the day there will be many themed baskets, and wonderful items to bid on for the silent auction! Concessions will be sold all day as well. New this year in the kitchen will be some great lunch items hamburgers & smoked bologna and pickles on a stick!

All proceeds will go to Butler County Boys & Girls Club.

This year includes our second Celebrity Bowl silent auction, where you can bid on bowls made by TV/Radio personalities, politicians, entertainers, entrepreneurs, sports figures, and Big Red.
