Verified Tornado Relief Information

13 December 2021 CFR Events Featured Heard On-Air

Important for cleanup:

  • Please separate natural debris piles (tree limbs, branches) from building material or household materials and place at curb. Place all debris in two piles at the edge of your property. One for vegetation debris and one for construction debris. It will be picked up at some point. Do not remove debris caused by the tornado. This all needs to be weighed and documented for FEMA.

  • Be sure to use ONLY contractors licensed by our local Contractors Licensing Board! More info to follow. Before starting any damage repair, the public should ask a contractor to provide documentation with their official yellow license certificate.

The public can verify the contractor license number by:

    1. Searching the CLB website database for the license number: https://ow.ly/KOvk50HaU3T

    2. Calling the CLB office to confirm directly at 270-781-3530

If a license number cannot be verified with either of these options, the license may be invalid. Please contact Holly Warren with questions, holly.warren@bgky.org

Power lines:

  • Always assume power lines are energized. As utility workers work to restore power and lines are replaced, you may not realize that lines are active. Any line, guide wire, or pole that is entangled with debris of any kind needs to be handled by a utility worker. Utility workers are working long hours and every day to restore power – please be patient.
