BEGINNING ACTING AND IMPROV THEATRE will be starting May 15th at Community Education, 1227 Westen Street, Bowling Green. No experience is necessary. It will be intergenerational, ages 11 to 99, which turned out to be an exciting mix last time. It’s $40 for 7 weeks, Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30. Registration is limited. Register at commed.us/taking-classes/ or write me at dove_08816@yahoo.com.
Although the curriculum will still include basic improvisation techniques and games, we will be doing scenes rather than monologues in this class. I find monologues handy and I think students should have one or two good ones ready to trot out for auditioning. But scenes are often more fun to work on, and allow for more in-depth coaching. We will, however, add some audition techniques to allow students to prepare for local theatre production auditions. I always love teaching this class and its generally lots of fun.

Mark your calendars for the 26th annual Stand for Children day on Thursday, June 20th. We, along with other organizations within the area, come together for one day to raise awareness about the needs of and services available for the area children. The event, currently held at the Bowling Green Ballpark, provides fun activities for children while providing information to families and caregivers about the services available to them in our community. Families, summer camps, and child care centers attend free-of-charge. This safe event is a wonderful way to celebrate the younger members of our community as we take a stand for children.
More than 55 vendors (business and organizations) were featured and more than 875 attendees attended last year’s Stand for Children Day! The rain date is set for June 21st. Let’s make this year the best yet!
