Review Your Credit Report
It’s a best practice to review your credit report annually. There are three major credit bureaus in the US – Experian, Equifax, and Transunion. Each bureau is required to provide free access to your credit report once every twelve months. Checking your credit report is important for two main reasons. First, you want to ensure that all of the information reported is correct. If there are debts or accounts that are no longer in existence, then it’s important to communicate with the bureaus to get that corrected. Second, you want to make sure that no accounts or debts have been added fraudulently. The sooner that fraudulent activity is corrected, the quicker it can be fixed.
