Christian Family Radio (CFR) had the privilege of sitting down (virtually!) with Megan Woods, the artist behind the powerful song “The Truth.” This interview offered a glimpse into Megan’s heart, her struggles, and the unwavering faith that fuels her music. Currently on tour with Big Daddy Weave and Ben Fuller, a tour that will be stopping at SKyPAC in Bowling Green on February 14, 2025, Megan’s story is one of hope and inspiration. From battling insecurities to finding her identity in Christ, Megan’s story is one of hope for all generations.
A Song That Bridges Generations
“The Truth” has resonated with listeners of all ages, sparking conversations about identity and self-worth. Megan shared how humbling it is to see her personal struggles reflected in the lives of so many others. “It blows my mind,” she confessed, “I wrote that about my deepest struggles and just to see how so many people struggle with that same thing… It’s so cool how a song can just really bridge the generations.”
From Insecurity to Identity in Christ
Megan openly discussed her past struggles with feeling worthy, particularly during her school years. She described the challenges of navigating social media and the impact of bullying and verbal abuse. These experiences led her to question her own value, but it was through diving into scripture that she began to find her true identity in Christ. Zephaniah 3:17 became a cornerstone of her understanding of God’s love: “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” This verse, she shared, “really changed things for me.”
The Power of Vulnerability
Megan’s honesty about her struggles is what makes her music so relatable. She emphasized the importance of taking thoughts captive and discerning between God’s voice and the enemy’s whispers. Even now, as an artist, she faces challenges to her self-worth, but she actively chooses to focus on the truth of her identity in Christ. “The key is,” Megan explained, “it’s not like when you find the truth… it’s just perfect. But I think the biggest thing for me… has just been to realize… we have the ability… to be like, all right, is this God’s voice or is this the enemy’s voice?”
A Journey of Faith
Megan’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. She shared stories of working in a restaurant while pursuing her music, learning piano during the pandemic, and the almost-disastrous music video shoot for “The Truth.” Through it all, she has seen God’s hand at work, confirming her calling and using her story to touch lives. “I’ve never felt more at peace,” she declared.
Looking Ahead
Megan is excited for her upcoming tour and the opportunity to connect with audiences through her music. She even teased a new song, “History,” and a surprise song for her live performances. When asked about her current favorite song, she enthusiastically mentioned “No Fear” by John Rettig, calling it her “anthem this year.”
A Call to Action
Megan’s story is a powerful reminder that we are not alone in our struggles. Her vulnerability and unwavering faith offer hope and encouragement to all who are seeking their own truth. As she prepares to embark on this new chapter, we at CFR are excited to see how God will continue to use her voice to impact lives. Don’t miss Megan Woods live in concert this Valentine’s Day (2025)!
