This November, Derek and Bridget proudly represented CFR at CMB University in Nashville, serving as mentors and sharing their passion for Christian radio with the next generation. Designed for college students eager to unite their faith and love for music, this inspiring two-day event showcased the power of Christian media.
Equipping Students for Impact
More than just a conference, CMBU dives deep into the Christian broadcasting industry with workshops on music, on-air presentation, social media, and digital marketing. It’s all about equipping students to use their talents to amplify the gospel and reach more people for Jesus through media.
Insightful Discussions and Hands-On Learning
The event offered attendees engaging discussions and hands-on opportunities to learn and connect. Industry leaders shared practical tactics to leverage social media for boosting engagement, driving growth, and pursuing purpose. Students explored an inspiring career journey that highlighted the importance of discovering their “Why” as they step into the professional world. A panel of experts from radio promotions, marketing, and events provided insights into various career paths within and beyond the Christian music industry and shared actionable advice for launching successful careers.
Behind-the-Scenes Tours and Service
Attendees toured the K-LOVE and WayFM studios, gaining firsthand knowledge of career opportunities in Christian media. They also participated in a meaningful service project, partnering with Dignity Freedom Network to pack over 100 care packages for women in crisis and the staff who serve them. Centricty Music artist Natalie Layne led worship, creating a spiritually uplifting and inspiring atmosphere for everyone involved.
The Team Challenge
The event concluded with an exciting team challenge. Students created a new online stream targeting a unique demographic, tackling all aspects of a digital station—from programming to promotion and revenue. Derek and Bridget’s team impressed everyone with their creativity, teamwork, and strategy, ultimately taking the win!
